Porsche Storytellers

From Naarden to Montenegro

My 55th birthday was a perfect excuse to purchase a dream car. I live in Montenegro, in the old coastal town of Budva. Whenever I traveled anywhere I visited Porsche specialists from Scandinavia to Spain. After a long search I ended up at 9Classics in Berkel. The initial contact via the Internet was extremely smooth and knowledgeable. As so often, I sent a request for a gray 911 and expected an answer or rather no answer within a few days.... But after just a few hours I received a reply from Danny with the right information. And with patience for answering my million questions and I might add with the right empathy for a newbie who is not so interested in horsepower or acceleration performance, but more in design, music and travel. I was looking for a Targa, but on the 9Classics website there was a white 997 coupe - and I asked about it, got an answer and information that the first owner of this car was the iconic Dutch designer Jan des Bouvrie.

I am an art historian and began researching his life, his work, his studio at Arsenal Naarden, his passion for cars and his amazing car collection. And I fell in love with this car. 3 days later I was in the Netherlands and met Danny. From that moment my Porsche story began. Danny was super cool and patient. I test drove the amazing white 997 coupe and it took me 1 hour to decide if I would buy this brilliant car. I checked all the things about export import, papers etc and within a week I had confirmation and could confidently transfer the money for the car. Danny was brilliant. Always available and super professional which is really important to me. At my request he put the car in storage for 4 months so I could pick the car up after the summer season. Danny prepared the export papers for me. I discovered that he is so dedicated to his work and along with his passion for classic Porsche I felt I had definitively found where I will buy my first Porsche and hopefully the next and the next.

In front of the Arsenal in Naarden, where Des Bouvrie design studio is located, Danny delivered the car. I will never forget this moment. It was like being in a movie and so emotional. We met Jan's wife Monique, we received a gift from her, a book about Jan's work. We promised to take good care of the car. As Danny said, the delivery in Naarden was a "last salute" to Jan des Bouvrie. We decided to return to Holland every year for our annual service. Danny offers us every assistance for this. He is and will remain our professional classic Porsche man.

On our way back to Montenegro, together with my friend Stasy, I covered 2600 km with the white coupe. We visited Amsterdam, Bruges, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Konstanz, Innsbruck and Zagreb. We drove on highways, but also on local mountain roads across the Alps and every moment was a joy to drive in this brilliant classic. What a wonderful car.
